If he'd have been aware of what was going on at any level, Ianto would have actually felt guilty about all the effort Owen was putting into his survival. He heard snatches of things - often Owen turning the air blue, and the whine of defrib paddles - in the old theory that comatose people could hear you.
Well, Ianto had his own experience in knowing that was true. Even if Jack wasn't supposed to say a word about it.
But for now, with Owen's help, Ianto was holding on. Unconcious as he was, and even if he was awake he was on a ventilator so couldn't speak, but on some level, he could listen.

Kyle had been dragged from the CCTV earlier to go stare at some food that he couldn't swallow and change his clothes. In all honesty he couldn't have said what he was wearing. He'd dressed without thought and then padded back down the steps to the clinic in sock feet to watch the screen. Apparently Owen's deemed Ianto stable for the moment and has fucked off to read his porn or whatever. It's only Ianto in the room now
( ... )
After making Kyle change and try to eat something, Mercy had followed him down at a distance and sat on the stairs just out of eyesight, leaning against the wall.
She didn't want to interfere, but she wanted to stay within smelling distance in case he needed her. Not like she was going to sleep anyway.
Kyle spoke into the mic a while longer, telling Ianto about the ducklings, how big they were getting, how they kept searching for Ianto at night when Kyle put them on the bed with him.
When he ran out of things to talk about, Kyle practiced the little bits of Welsh he knew, wondering if Ianto would suddenly wake up to correct his pronunciation.
It was probably tell-tale that as observant as he usually was, he didn't notice Mercy there.

Were you able to isolate the virus?

Still don't know if it's going to work. We'll have to wait and see.

I'd suggest sleep too, but from the Network I'd guess that it isn't the best idea right now.

Yeah, sleep. Don't imagine my screaming would be all that useful for anyone.
