Question!

Carl played FLEETING against me at the Portland Labor Day Tournament, and I challenged. I somehow won the game by a bit in the end.

What is the silliest word you have challenged in a game of Scrabble?

i challenged BIPED because i read it as BIPE-D instead of BI-PED. i said, "there's no such thing as BIPE!"

someone once challenged GRAVELY and said GRAVELLY has two Ls.

That's funny...In a speed game, Andrew Friedman was watching, my opponent played biped, and he jokingly says "why didn't you challenge Bipe-d?)

Very early in my Scrabble career, I challenged GAS. Having studied my twos, I was confident that GA was not among them.

PIER, one that PIES.

I also challenged PORTABLES once, after having spent the entirety of third grade in a portable.

AWING on ISC. The A was hooked in front of WING, causing me to read it as a-wing like afield, aback, etc...

Heh, that's why I once held A(GREED). Also held MANNERS once, too (people that man?).

Don't recall making any silly challenges, though, which only means I must've blocked it out. All of my horror stories come from leaving bad words on, not challenging good ones.

I insta-challenged INVALIDS against Cheezy. I don't have the excuse that it was early in my Scrabble career.
