What I did during college (wow that's weird to refer to college in the past tense) was not study or play much in the fall, do a little in the winter, and start ramping it up during the spring and especially the summer. Considering that O-Tile, SDO, Summer Reno, Portland Labor Day, and Nationals are all April-September, you'll still be on your game for the major west coast tourneys (if you go). Plus you won't get burnt out, which might be the most important thing.

So now's definitely a great time to take a month off!
