A/N: Ficathon 2012 submission. The original title of this was "A Year of Gold and Rubies," but I think this actually goes much better. AU, somewhat influenced by ancient Rome but nowhere near an accurate representation.

If you loved it as much as each of them loves all those things (which made me grin) then THERE MUST BE MORE :D I've recently been thinking about where to go next with this one, and I think I'm just about ready to write it. I write slowly but hopefully it will come, sooner or later, and it will be a direct result of your encouragement :D.

Btw - I feel terribly that I haven't finished reading Ballroom!verse yet. I will be there because it is FANTASTIC AND I MUST FIND OUT HOW THINGS TURNED OUT!!! If I don't get to it soon, come poke me!!

Hi there! I'm sorry to be responding so late to your comment, but thanks so much for your feedback!! I'm so glad to hear you liked it :) It SHOULD have been a potential verse from the start given how I left the ending, but it hasn't became more cemented in my mind until this past week. I hope I'll be able to write the next installment soon. I totally agree about reading ficathon entries, which I get to do right now xD

ice, i am SO sorry about how pathetically long it's taken me to give this one a proper review! let's just say i was saving one of the best for last ;) i adore this, much like i adore letters to karchesa (reviews on that to follow as well!) and in both cases, i'm just blown away by your ability to completely enfold the reader in a lush and evocative universe just a few pages into the story
