I'm starting a sort of project-y thing, and I need your help. I want to compile a little booklet of the good restaurants in the area, but my little brain can't think of everything. So, what are your favorite restaurants here, in the newport beach/costa mesa area? Or anywhere else (I'll have a section for not-home, too)

I'm pretty addicted to the places by my house. There's the Big Belly Deli, and they have epic sandwiches. Then there's the Spaghetti Bender, which has like, eggplant parmasean and delicious (DELIIIICIOUSSSS) soup and salad. Then there's Alessa Cucina, which has more high end Italian, focusing more on cream sauces and seafood, rather than the marinara soul-food at the S.B.

My other favorite restaurant is Matsu Sushi, but it's in Lake Forest. It is AMAAAAAZING and the people who own it are equally awesome. I keep meaning to kipnap you and Lavonne and make you go there with me, but who has the time and the willingness to kill a diet. (Actually I ate there and ate a fuckin' ton of food and only gained like, 1 lb. Which is totally worth tempura.) ...Maybe I'll steal you dudes later this week for it. We'll chat.

I haven't been to most those places, I'll have to do some additional delicious research while I'm doing delicious research on Rita's list

My uncle used to go there and get what he called the "Dan Moore Special." Large pizza with 3 toppings worth of garlic.
I also remember going there with my dad and my brother and then going to the drive-in movie theater. I still remember the smell of hot pizza in the back seat while waiting to get tickets.
