Back among the living

I am finally recovering from The Virus From Hell. I started to feel lousy Friday and have spent most of the entire WEEK that has passed since then propped up on my couch (propped for better nasal drainage) with my eyes closed, drifting in and out of consciousness and, when conscious, drinking gallons of Gatorade. Wednesday I developed enough of ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're feeling better! And I have both the last Dr. Who and the first Torchwood episode on tape for you. If you can make it to the Who viewing tomorrow I'll hand them over, and if not we can work out a transfer time/place.

Hope the teaching goes well tomorrow.

Thanks. I had one coughing fit during teaching, but I recovered. And thank you for the tape! I am a bit up in the air about DW tonight but leaning toward probably not; probably I should hang around here coughing on already coughed on stuff. I'm not sure how I feel about that. What's the plan for tonight, do you know?

I just got nnnmpsn and your emails about tonight. Anyway, I'm sorry you're still a bit under the weather. If you feel like company, I'll have Who on and my door open, and you're welcome to come by, coughing or not. As I've just finished 4 days of Strategic Planning, I'm about ready to flop, myself. So it'll be a short media night--I'll probably turn in not long after Who's done.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I've resigned myself to staying in. The rain seems like a sign. (I got poured on coming home from grocery shopping. It was quite refreshing, and, since I was wearing a thin dress, not uncomfortable.)

I'm so glad you're feeling better! I feel like I haven't seen you in an age. Of course, I'm leaving tomorrow for Denver for a week, so.

Have we talked about mutual Scarecrow & Mrs. King love before? It was my favorite, favorite show in the 7th-8th grade. One of my first "fandoms", I guess. When it comes out on DVD, I'm so on it.

I'd love to talk Rosa Parks with you sometime soon. I just heard Tim Tyson speak, and he was talking about Rosa Parks' early years as an activist, in the 30's and 40's. Fascinating!

Have fun in Denver! What are you doing in Denver?

In a fit of nostalgia, I just ordered some season 1 Scarecrow on VHS for too much money (on the other hand I haven't eaten anything for a solid week, which probably saved some money) so we could watch some sometime. I don't think we have talked about it. My family used to watch it--my mother has always sort of wanted a secret life as a glamorous spy. Her favorite movie had Jo Beth Williams getting amnesia in Paris, buying lots of fancy clothes, and running off with a swarthy secret agent.

I'd love to hear about what Tim Tyson said. Blood Done Sign My Name gave me an interesting picture of the civil rights movement in the rural South.
