I am beginning to think it will be necessary for myself and my family to find a new home, soon. We have lived in this house for a long time, but while there are rooms enough for us each to have a bedroom, I feel Gracia needs more of her own space. A proper training room would be useful as well. Myself and Lord Motochika cannot spar in the space we ( Read more... )

It's a tradition that seems to be familiar in other parts of the world. In Iwatodai, I don't believe that we were encouraged to hang up stockings in the manner here but there were decorations in the same style.

Interesting. I wonder why the tradition came about?

[He rubs the back of his head, briefly.]

I can only assume the stockings are to be filled in some manner...

I believe that you place presents in the stockings of those you consider close to you. Traditionally children would put them up and St. Nicholas would give them presents if they behaved during the year.

Who is St. Nicholas, if I may ask?

[He is genuinely curious. All of these unusual traditions fascinate him.]

[Motochika sounds thoughtful.]

You make a very good point. We shall ensure that our next home is perfect for us, not merely adaquate for our current needs. A true home for life.

[There as pause as he imagines the possibilities, before he asks:]

Have you found yourself a stocking?

['A true home for life.' Mitsuhide exhales softly, his doubts about it lasting there for a few moments before he pushes them back as best he can. Instead of talking about them, he says in a gentle voice:]

I am glad you agree. More space will be good for all of us, my Lord.

[In response to the question, he says:]

Not yet.

Do so, then join me in the living room.

[Mitsuhide laughs quietly.]

As you wish, Lord Motochika.

[There is a 'click' as he puts the SFC away.]

I believe the idea is that gifts are left in the stocking on the night before the holiday. I am not sure I want any random gifts from this city, but I'm not fond of the idea of angering them, either...

Oh, I see! Thank you for telling me. Last year the city gave us each a gift beneath a large tree; perhaps it intends to bring the gifts into our homes, this time.

[He speaks in a soft, reassuring tone.]

Do not worry, my Lady. Vatheon can be generous, at times, and I think this festival will prove to be at the very least a harmless one. When last it gifted me, I received my mother's comb. Something precious from home...

I see... well, I'll remain cautious but hopefully if the stocking is small they can't put anything too dangerous inside of it.

It is good to be cautious, but ensure you enjoy yourself during this festival too!

If we get a bigger home, does this mean Feng Huang can finally live with us?

[LAWL GRACIA, THAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU SEE THIS? XD Mitsuhide sounds amused, but fond.]

Only if the house we find has a large enough garden. Provided it does, then yes, he can.

[ OF COURSE. THERE IS NOTHING BUT THIS. Lmao. Gracia replies with so much determination in her voice, it's almost funny... ]

Then we must find a house with a garden large enough for him!

[Ah. It makes sense that Mitsuhide wouldn't know Christmas traditions.]

It seems to be a festival celebrated in the West. Where I'm from, we usually just hang up stockings and eat a cake.

Hmm. I see.

[He's gradually putting more pieces together, at least!]

I followed some recipes for various cakes and other desserts last year... but is there a specific type of cake that would be most appropriate?

Yeah... Christmas cake.

[Duh.]

But what does it comprise of? I must confess, I have found several different recipes for what is described as 'christmas cake.'
