Since the gourd is not lying on the ground, it should make for a really nice and round shaped container. It does appear to be some type of bottle gourd.
First, get some nice natural cording and make a basket for it.
Then I would seal the insides with a really good food-grade lacquer. I'd save the top and put a little hinge on it or a cork to keep the bugs outta my drink.
Then I might drink hot mulled wine during Fall and watch the leaves slowly tumble down... Or maybe a good microbrew.
It could also be turned into a bird house.
I figure it would make a nice lamp (low wattage bulb!!) if it was sanded really thin or carved decoratively.
