Cuppa angst for your Monday?

A trifle from the Far From Home series, that I really, really, want to get back to this summer. And I entirely blame the angst on the nursery rhyme. What was the poor writer to do?

What a great moment for the kind of introspection required by the verse -- a great moment for them to be thinking how awful things are not knowing how much more awful they'll become. Truly poignant.

I'll try not to throw any Baggins/Gamgee plot bunnies in your way. It would be nice if you could sink your teeth into this series again. :)

:D I think have a half-done fic in every series I've ever started.

Discipline is not exactly my middle name.

Thank you, though! I think one of the saddest things about LOTR is how slowly the hobbits lose their innocence - thinking they can get back to where they used to be for such a long while - until they finally realize it is forever gone. That sets them apart from the rest, who never seem to have much hope of that, IMO.

Thank you very much! A hard time for all of them, and no mistake.

I've never heard this rhyme before. I'm certainly glad you have - it sounds a proper hobbit-song and exactly where it should be. I could see each of the four of them so clearly as I read this; sometimes angst is well worth it.

I've never heard this rhyme before.

Neither had I! Kudos to the waymeet mods for such a wonderful selection. It could have fit several placed during the quest, I thought, but there seemed to be four voices, and so there you go.

Judicial amounts of angst are always a good thing, IMHO. Thank you!

Aww, thank you, m'dear! I think the loss would have hit each of them differently, but there was a job to be done, and hobbits are a quietly stubborn folk.

A moment in the journey that perfectly fits that rhyme; you have each POV down beautifully. All of them grieving and confused, but still determined to finish what they started.

Great rhyme, wasn't it? I'd never heard it before, but it seemed to be so right for the Four.

Thank you very much for the POV bit, that was a bit tricksy! :)
