Cuppa angst for your Monday?

A trifle from the Far From Home series, that I really, really, want to get back to this summer. And I entirely blame the angst on the nursery rhyme. What was the poor writer to do?

Beautifully written, and a wonderful use of the prompt. It was a bleak and hopeless time for them all.

Thank you so very much! Yes, bleak indeed - I think it was the first true wake-up call for all four of them. Definitely not in the Shire anymore, and nothing and no-one on whom they thought they could count were guaranteed. The fact that even a wizard could fall had to have been terrifying.

This was very entertaining. I enjoyed listening to the thoughts of each of the hobbits as they considered the Quest and their part in it all. : )

Thank you very much! Especially on the individual voices. Those who see any of them as Generic Hobbit #3 really are quite missing it, IMHO. They may all have curly hair and go bare-foot, but that's where the similarities ends.

Huzzah! And here I had just been wishing for a well-written angst-fest! Perfectly characterised, evocative, lyrical and tender, and you found the perfect spot in the story for it. The rhyme is beautiful, too, and you did it justice. Thank you, m'dear.

Johnny-on-the-spot to fill your every angst-desire. :D

Thank you so very much, dearie. I don't do it often, but every now and then, I just have to indulge.

What a hard and heart breaking time for them, and worse yet to come. *wipes eyes*

*passes hankie*

Just like you said, worse yet to come. Wouldn't mind passing that hankie back, now, would you?

*sniffles*

Thank you, m'dear!

I don't believe I've ever read/heard of this rhyme before, but it fits so perfectly with this moment in the quest. And how nice to see a new bit of Shire Morns, even if it is a wee bit angsty.. *sniffles* Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much! I hadn't heard/read of this poem before either, but it certainly seemed as if it could have been our lads' theme song, as it were.

*joins you in sniffling*
