I've been sort of hiding out after the whole Alice thing. And no, I don't want to talk about it. I feel like enough of a failure as it is, thanks.

Someone cheer me up by telling me that my mirror got his ass kicked, at the very least.

If anyone wants me, I'll be in the library, doing that whole "futile research" thing that I do so well.

i'm a failure, mirrors are creepy, guilt trippin', alice

You are the second time I've heard of a 'mirror' in reference to a copy. Can you tell me about them?

Everyone on this side has a double on the mirror side, which is where the Queen resides. This double is the complete opposite of the one that exists here (I'm the quiet type, my mirror's loud and obnoxious). They can watch us through the mirrors, but they usually don't bother us unless they get really antsy or until the Queen sends them over here for some reason. And we can't exist on the same side as our mirrors. So if they cross over here, or if we need to go over there, we're essentially switching places.

I hope that made sense. I'd say that I'm not good with explanations, but I'm not feeling particularly good about anything right now.

No, it was a very good one. It sounds rather frightening, and worrying.

I'm sorry to have asked you about something when you're not feeling well.

Yeah, "frightening" and "worrying" are good words for this entire mess.

Don't worry about it. Chances are, I won't be feeling top-notch until I'm back home.

I met him. And I lived through it. Didn't completely kick his ass, but... I think he was a little less puffed-up when he left.

Really? He didn't try to do anything stupid, did he? I caught a glimpse of him during an event a few months ago, and he gave me the creeps. So long as he knows not to mess with you again, I'm satisfied.

He tried. And failed.

Ha. Then I'm satisfied.

If you'd like some company in the library, I could use the chance to read, myself.

I wouldn't turn you away, I guess.

I'll be quiet. You won't even know I'm there.

... don't keep mum on my account. Chances are, I won't be focusing on any reading anyway.

Sam.

...

It's not your fault.

I couldn't do anything over there, Rose. I might as well not have tried.

But you did try Sam. You couldn't have known what would've happened. The Queen...She...It's all her fault.

Yeah, I know that. But that doesn't mean I couldn't have tried harder.

It sounds illogical, I know, but I just thought that after all the crap I've been through the past couple of months, somebody up there would deal me out one measly victory.

I'll be fine. It's not like it's the first time I've made myself completely useless.

None of us had the advantage over there, Sam.

I've been here long enough to have at least had a chance. I should have found out more about the other side.
