What's the worst way you've broken up with someone or been broken up with? (Phone call, text, e-mail, never hearing back from them, their mom does it for them, etc....)
Most of mine weren't that exciting, but the band Bright Eyes has some really creative break-up songs if you're researching the topic. "It's cool we can still be friends" and "Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh" come to mind.
I've only had two breakups, both of them because of circumstances: one or both of us was moving and neither one of us wanted to transition into long-distance. They just involved a private discussion and were about as non-dramatic as a breakup can get.
However, if we want to talk about unnecessary and unnecessarily mean ways I've been rejected or informed a person is not even interested in me in the first place . . .
My first ex broke up with me over the phone right after he flew several states over to see me (long distance relationship). I learned a month later he'd done it with his own prior ex-girlfriend waiting to make out with him in his car probably not even five feet away that night. His visit was a mess too so in retrospect I shouldn't have been so surprised.
Apparently I was so bad at it he didn't know we were breaking up till I said, "so you're completely okay with this? ...This breakup?" then he got it. Either that or I was with the most dense person on the planet.
