I don't think those officers on leave should be getting paid, for starters. It's disgusting that they used pepper spray at all and especially from that close range. It's no wonder two people were hospitalized.

I think Katehi should be punished. It sounds like she just wanted a quick solution to the protester problem and didn't think at all about her actions.

Did Katehi specifically ask the police to respond in such a brutal way, or give instructions that would suggest she authorized the use of pepper spray against nonthreatening peaceful protestors? If so, then of course she should step down ( ... )

Yes. She should resign. What happened on Saturday was disgraceful. Those protesters were doing absolutely nothing wrong.

She is wrong to assume that the college needs her, will trust her or can use her in any position of trust ever again. In calling in the police, she acted without thought to protect her job.

Give her no more choice. Fire her.
