I don't believe she's responsible for the action unless she ordered them to "use any means necessary" or similar. Then yes, it was her call and she needs to be accountable for it. However, once this happened, she should have recalled the UC Police immediately, regardless of her orders, if any.

The students weren't causing any harm against anyone else. I think everyone involved in pepper spraying them should be fired.

I have seen variant after variant images on Facebook showing that cop pepper spraying everything from the Muppets to God! There was a story that one of the women sprayed had a miscarriage but that has yet to be confirmed. On Facebook I've been reading about Occupy for WEEKS because many of my friends keep posting stuff about it.

The footage shown demonstrates that standard tactics to disperse crowds just doesn't seem to be working with this crowd. The fact that they'd spray them like that when the crowd was NOT violent is outrageous, almost as bad as casual tasing. :(

It's all a mess.

As a student of UC Davis, I just want to say what happened on Friday was frightening and disheartening, that peaceful protesters were harmed. However, in the event should Katehi resign, what exactly will that change? Katehi is not the cause of all of these problems; while she may have been directly related to the events that happened on Friday and a member of a group against whom the students were protesting, there has been a large buildup of issues that she is only tiny part of ( ... )
