I read a theory once that best picture means nothing anymore; it goes to something traditionally Hollywood (like the horribly overblown melodrama Million Dollar Baby). To see the true best movie(s) of the year, look at the screenplay categories. Can anyone argue with that tonight? I didn't agree with any of the winners, in all honesty, except for ( Read more... )

yes that's him. Wes I am very surprised at how short that rant was. I was expecting something much longer and much more angry. Bravo on controling your rage.

i agree w\ everything you said (specially stupid clints little project)
except jamie foxx...the movie overall, was ok (also 3hrs long)but coming from someone who has never especially liked or appreciated jamie foxx---he proved himself and more in that movie--you really should see it--his depiction was honest and moving.

I saw Ray a couple days ago. Jamie Foxx was better than I expected him to be, but I still thought Leo (I know, scary), Don Cheadle, and Johnny Depp were better, not to mention Paul Giamatti, Jude Law, and Jim Carrey. Did you see Closer? That's a mindfuck and a half, but I think you'd like it.

closer was my absolute favorite movie of the year-despite julia the platypus turned starlett-you know i go for anything demoralizing or depressing...damian brice did the soundtrack ("i cant take my eyes of off you") i bought his record--if you ever need a glimpse of shear heartache mingled w\ longing and regret he's the man:) i thought eternal sunshine was better than ray-i agree about johnny and jim--however did you see 'i heart huckabees'? probably my #2-it made you look at the world in a totally different way.

I listened to Damien Rice for about a month straight after I bought the CD- still breaks my heart everytime I play it. Huckabees was another of my favorites I think people overlooked cause they didn't 'get it'. Did you see Garden State? I think that had to be my favorite of the year, up there with Closer and Eternal Sunshine. Too good of a year to have to choose.
