I was kind of ambivalent about Vampire Diaries for a lot of last season -- the cast is fun but it seemed kind of directionless. But the new season has been strong in a way that raises my opinion of the show overall and. . . I think it's something you might dig? I have been wondering if I made a mistake in not starting The Secret Circle.

PS -- I don't know how much of a completist you are but you could probably start watching TVD now and understand it about as well as I understand it from week to week. i.e., I never remember who anybody is or why they're doing what they're doing but then it will be exposited.

Also, I don't know if you watched last season of Work of Art (reality for aspiring artists) but it was one of the more pleasantly wack-a-doo things I've watched in a while, and they're starting a new season soonish.

I have never seen Work of Art but I would watch it based on your rec here and this post at TV Hangover which made me laugh and smile.

Ha ha, I don't actually know if I agree that it was drama free? It actually some of the weirder meltdowns that I've ever seen. But I do think that, maybe because of being a new show w/ a sort of unconventional competition, the drama was closer to 'real people having drama' than people acting like other contestants they had seen on the same show over the years.

I think you should put up all your Smallville stuff on AO3.

Our two co-authored ones are up, but I know you wrote more than that. Didn't you have Clark out there washing Lex's car once?

I was sad about The Playboy Club too. I was really enjoying it!

I started watching the Secret Circle for Gale, but I actually like it. Totally not my kind of show, but I look forward to it every week.

Prime Suspect is pretty good. If you haven't checked it out, it's worth a shot.

i forgot i downloaded the prime suspect pilot to watch! thanks for the reminder. i do like maria bello quite a bit and have been hearing good things about it.

gale is RIDICULOUS on this show but i don't care at ALL. it's all so campy and fun that i just roll with it - which is not my usual style but i think this has just the right pretty-to-stupid ratio to keep me watching for now.

Now I want an icon of Gale (or Thomas Dekker's eyelashes, either will do) that says "the right pretty-to-stupid ratio."

Duuude. I just started watching The Secret Circle and Revenge this week. I'm really enjoying both so far. And I think the pilot for Revenge was pretty much flawless. Over the summer, they played promos of this show in the movie theater, and I was kinda iffy then, but I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Side note: Adam and Cassie seem to have staring problems, but Idontcurr.

Also, what do you think of Parks and Recreation? :)

i kind of totally love Revenge - it helps i think that i always liked Emily van Camp on Everwood. and if Thomas Dekker wasn't so pretty when he stared i wouldn't be watching that show at all...

can i watch Parks & Rec just starting where it is now? i have the vague sense i'm supposed to know all the backstory on...leslie and...ben?
