GIRL, DON'T TEASE ME. Fwiw, of the 4 people I've actively tried to get to marathon The Vampire Diaries, only darksylvia decided she hated it and gave up after ep 6. But the first half of season 1 is pretty firmly Dawson's Creek 2011-toned business. If you can stick it out past that, it's a show that I think genuinely gets better all the time, is dedicated to fleshing out its characters, isn't too joke-y, and never tries to make biting people seem not creepy.

Just let me know when I should bring over a USB drive... :D

P.S. I only just found out Paul Wesley was in some horror B-movie that also included Leighton Meester, so now that's obviously something wretched I absolutely need to see.

why don't you tell me a good episode from the 1st season to just...watch. unless you think i really need to start at 101 to know what's up. just pick the one you'd show someone at 2am to convince them THIS SHOW IS GREAT and i'll watch that one and then we can figure out what kind of marathoning we need to do. (today i caught myself thinking i wanted the secret circle to be MORE jokey, which is so unlike me - but then i realized i really wanted it to be more whedonesque, which isn't quite the same thing at all.)

Oh, goodness, such a difficult choice! I'm gonna cheat and say two, because 106 and 107 together are where the show starts finding its rhythm. There's an even mix of the backstory, violence, romance shenanigans, family love/hate, and Damon having sassy one-liners. My favorite episodes of the first season are 117 through 120, but I think there may be a little too much of the season arc tied into those to start there.

I feel you need to include a campy flashback warning for the uninitiated if they start with 1x06. Those civil war costumes took me be surprise at first, though maybe if that's where you're starting it won't seem so abrupt. ;)

Oh yes, I'm liking Revenge for the same reasons. It feels like such big, soapy 80's style goodness. I'm also enjoying a show that doesn't have any (so far) extreme physical violence.

that is a good point about the violence - it's just DRAMA. but in a great long con kind of way.

i have been iffy about secret circle cause i loooved the books, but it's picked up the past two weeks and now i'm on board.

also, i am totally catching jealousy vibes from faye re: melissa/nick, but shipper that i am makes me think it's jealousy over melissa, not nick.

what do you think??

i think everyone on that show should do it, or maybe already is. (and i agree that faye is soooo possessive of melissa, even though i find melissa to be totally boring.)

I quite like The Secret Circle, despite the adult in me thinking: why on Earth didn't Cassie ask to see all the relevant literature before deciding that binding the circle was the right thing to do? Why on Earth would you trust the judgement of someone you've not known for very long, whose motives are unclear, simply because they say they know more than you do? Especially if it seems clear you'll be bound to these people for the rest of your life... Anyway, yes, I am enjoying TSC, but I think the more interesting story is at the grandparents' generation. I'm a bit sick of everything important or exciting happening to kids. LOL ( ... )
