PremiseThe concept is simple: a few days ago, you received an invitation to a website called WebscapeOnline. And today? Somehow, someway, you find yourself on that website.

It turns out to be a virtual chatroom. There are no administrators, no moderators, only members. And most of them have no understanding of how this whole thing works. Hacking the comm, no matter how good you are at computers, is completely impossible. Members seem to just deal with it and move on - if you don't want to waste your time, you should too.

Members can lounge in the virtual main lobby, or mess around in several other rooms: fields, deserts, swimming pools; whatever you can think of, it's probably there. In addition to all the open rooms, you can have private chatrooms - literal rooms - in which you can have conversations you want no one else to hear (just watch out, they can be hackable).

Your virtual avatar is identical to yourself. It moves how you move and speaks how you speak. However, that doesn't mean it's the only one like it.

Yeah, that's right. There might be another you. This place is welcome to all universes, all existences, all times. It knows no boundaries, and proves this with its sporadically placed "events".

And underneath all of it, there is something different about this chatroom. Something... alive about it. But that's just silly.

After all. It's only a game. You can log out and turn it off whenever you want... right?

Arrival
If your character has access to modern internet technology, they will receive an email regarding "WebscapeOnline". If they aren't the type to join, for some reason they will anyway. Whether that's a basic compulsion that they can't resist or their computer can't navigate away is up to the player's discretion. As long as they get there, it's unimportant why.

If they don't have access to modern technology, they mysteriously receive some that allows them to log onto webscape and nothing else. Mun discretion can enable something else, such as a book or journal or so on, to have the same capability. Once again, as long as they get there, the how is unimportant.

The default setting of webscape is a generic lounge. You can fill in the details to your heart's content - the scenery is perfectly malleable by the players, but not by the characters. They interact just as they would in the real world. Their abilities are also just as they are in the real world.

Mechanics
Despite the realism of the setting, webscape is in the end a virtual reality. What happens in webscape stays in webscape. If a character is killed, they open their eyes sitting in front of their computer. If a character is injured, their avatar appears injured for the duration they would have an injury in real life. However, actually in real life, they are not injured.

With this comes a sense of distance. Pain is not quite as painful; pleasure is not quite as pleasurable. All of the senses are vaguely dimmed. Not enough to be immediately noticeable, but chocolate won't taste quite as good, and so on. If they spend hours in the virtual reality, when they log off they will be hungry, have to go to the bathroom, sleep, etc. regardless of whether they did any of those things while within the VR.

Traveling between "realities" or worlds is strictly forbidden except under express mod permission. Please contact us if you feel you have a plausible way your character could visit another. Real life interaction will only take place during special, rare events. Characters from the same verse can, of course, interact with each other. Post these real life threads in the appropriate journals.

Verses
Verse 1 is always the original canon. All other AU verses will be labeled according to their fandom and the number of AU verses that fandom has, although all characters will be listed under their original series on the Taken Characters page. For example, Simon (simonfedora) is from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but he is crossed over with Persona 3. Next to his name on the taken characters page, he would have Persona 3-Verse 2 next to it (shortened P3-V2). Minato (minatoshoes) is a canon character from Persona 3, but he is from an AU version of the world. More specifically, from Simon's, so he would also have the label P3-V2 next to his name on the taken characters list. Kaito (magiciansarcana) is also crossed over with Persona 3, but since he is from a different universe than Simon and Minato, he would be listed as P3-V3. If anyone apped into any of the existing verses, they would have the same label, but this can only be done after talking to the current participants in that verse.
