banana7pancakes A/N: I've had them all meet up by the end, although I've been a little vague with some characters I'm not familiar with. I should also point out how I don't really know anything about zombies so I just hope this makes sense...

It was getting dark as Mal Reynolds wandered the streets of Harvey's Cleft. He held his gun firmly in one hand, ready to shoot any zombies that got in his way. So far, he'd only come across three, so he had plenty of ammo left, but the chorus of "brains" was getting louder with each step and he knew soon enough his gun would be useless.
Serenity had landed in a nearby field three days ago; they'd heard of a cargo train rolling through and had come to see what they could find. However the news of an outbreak had stolen their attention and while the rest of the crew headed towards the city of Dainty, Mal had stayed put in the town.
Mal stopped suddenly when he heard a shuffling coming from the alley to his left. He stepped forwards, careful to avoid the mass of broken glass on the street so whoever was there wouldn't hear him coming. As he rounded the corner he raised his gun, finger on the trigger ready to shoot, but he paused when he saw a woman who was, most definitely, human.
Sarah Walker watched the man closely as he took his finger from the trigger but didn't lower his gun. She was leant against a dumpster, trying to stop the bleeding from one of her legs.
"Looks pretty painful," Mal commented, still not moving. Sarah nodded.
"Yeah." She paused. "Mind not pointing that at me?"
"Oh, sorry," he apologized, lowering the gun and moving towards her. "What happened?"
"Four of them, one of me." Sarah winced as she tried to tie the bandage around her leg. "They walked out in front of me. I shot one but then the others turned on me before I had chance to react and I tripped and landed on some broken glass."
"Ouch." Mal looked down at the wound, noticing a few shards of glass still in it. "Let me help," he offered, taking the bandage from her hands.
"Thanks," she said. "I managed to kill them, anyway. Shot two and cut the head off the other one." Mal glanced up at her and she shrugged. "Shoot with one hand, stab with the other."
"Nice idea. I'm Mal, by the way. Malcolm Reynolds," he replied as he tied the bandage and stood back up.
"Sarah Walker," she replied, and he nodded. They were silent for a moment before Mal spoke up.
"You think we're the only ones?"
"I hope not," she muttered, putting weight on her leg. It took a few steps (and a few stumbles) but she finally managed to walk with only a slight limp. She turned back to Mal.
"We should move. It's almost dark and it's quiet now, but we'll be safer inside." She took her gun out and checked the bullets.
"How many do you have left?" he asked.
"Eleven, you?"
"Seven, but I have two more mags." He walked out to the end of the alley and looked both ways. "Street's still clear, we should go now."
They walked back out onto the main street, avoiding the shards of broken glass as best they could. They checked down every alley for signs of life, but found nothing, not even zombies. After a few minutes Mal stopped.
"What is it?" Sarah asked, turning to look at him. He pointed down the road that veered off of the main street.
"The lights are on in there," he said quietly. He took a step forwards but was suddenly pushed sideways, his gun flying out of his hand as he hit the floor. He rolled over immediately and was met with two very green, very hungry-looking zombies. He tried to reach for his gun but it had landed too far away and one of the zombies was moving in fast.
Sarah moved quickly to take out her gun and aim it at the zombie closest to her, pulling the trigger without hesitation. She then turned towards the other zombie, the one that was moving in on Mal. She reached down and pulled a knife out from the holster around her ankle, then sent it spinning towards the zombie's neck. Startled, the zombie turned towards her and she raised her gun again, shooting straight in the forehead.
Once the zombie had fallen to the ground, Mal grabbed his gun and stood up, taking a deep breath.
"That was close," he muttered, and Sarah nodded.
"Yeah." She glanced down at her knife in the zombie's neck and considered taking it out, but thought better of it. She still had three more and she vaguely remembered something about not touching zombies from one of the movies Chuck had made her watch.
"What were you saying before, about a light being on?" she asked.
"Oh, right. Over there. In that cafe." Mal pointed down the street. "Shall we?"
"Okay," Sarah replied nervously. Yes, she was a CIA agent and she fought bad guys on a regular basis, but zombies weren't quite in the same league.
They started walking again, in the direction of the cafe. As they approached the window they slowed down, peering in through the window, before pushing the door open with guns raised.

As the door open, The Doctor and Castle spun around, sonic screwdriver and gun held up, while the other six reached for their weapons ready to attack. After a moment, they realized no weapons would be needed and they relaxed, as did Mal and Sarah as they approached the table.
When nobody said anything, The Doctor spoke up, introducing the eight of them. Then Sarah introduced herself and turned to Mal, whose eyes were firmly set on Castle.
"He looks just like me...," Mal mused, and Sarah rolled her eyes before introducing him to the others, grabbing a chair from a nearby table and sitting down. Slowly Mal did the same, but he kept glancing back at Castle every few seconds.
"What's it like out there?" Donna asked.
"Quiet at the moment," Sarah replied. "I came from the city and it was crazy when I got here, but it's practically empty now. We just killed two outside, but it doesn't seem like there are any more right now."
"I'd say they've moved into the city," Sherlock said. "It seems that they've caused all the trouble possible here so they're probably setting their sights on the more populated areas."
"What are we going to do?" Kurt asked quietly. Sarah glanced at him, wondering how two people as young as him and the boy next to him had been dragged into this. She stopped her train of thought, though, when she realized there would be a lot of people their age in the city.
"We can't do anything just sitting around here. We don't have the manpower or the resources." Castle stood up and walked over to the window, peering out onto the deserted street. "If they've moved to the city, we have to go there too," he continued as he turned back to the table. Nobody moved for a moment, and then The Doctor, Sherlock, Donna and Sarah all moved slowly across the room to join him.
"So we can't just leave now?" Kurt looked up hopefully. Blaine nodded.
"Yeah. They're gone. We could go in the other direction and be safe," he agreed, but Sarah shook her head.
"It's too late to back out."
Five minutes later the team were stood outside, ready to leave the small town. Each of them was armed in some way, whether it was a gun, screwdriver (sonic, of course) or baseball bat. Taking a deep breath, they began walking towards the city.
Moving up next to Castle, Mal nudged his arm. "Don't you think it's weird how alike we look?" Castle shook his head.
"Not weird. I mean, two of us? This is going to be fun..."
