QUESTION OF THE DAYIf you could trade one player from your roster for anyone else on any other roster (including those currently on the DL or rehabbing), who would you want and who would you give up to get him

That's an interesting idea. Thinking at it from a Rays POV, with the amount of times Youk walks and singles, batting ahead of Evan would do wonders for his runs scored numbers, too.

(Of course, speaking from a Red Sox POV, we tried Carlos, and as much as I do really like him.... No. Never trade in the division anyway. See: Vlad Guerrero vs the Angels.)

The entire Marlins bullpen for ... any relievers that can actually hold leads/get outs. The Marlins now have 18 blown saves... if even half of those had been converted into wins, they'd be right up there with the Braves. And Josh Johnson would have at least 15 wins, and would have started the All-Star Game and be the leader for the Cy Young Award instead of the underdog despite his microscopic 1.60 ERA. He is worlds better than Jimenez, Halladay, Strasburg, any of them this year and nobody knows that because the Marlins can't get him wins. /rant

I'd also like to trade Jorge Cantu for, uh, Evan Longoria? lmfao. Or Michael Young. Or any competent third baseman, really. His two errors last night destroyed that game.

As for the Red Sox... IDK, I haven't been paying super close attention to them lately plus their entire roster is broken. Pretty sure they need 'pen help, too, but I don't know where they'd find it. :/

The Marlins bullpen is... I'm rather in awe of the Marlins bullpen during this most recent Braves series. I was thrilled we didn't have to face Josh Johnson, because he's already a young ace. But the bullpen.... wow. I think out of all 30 teams, you have the biggest argument for being awarded the Mystery Bullpen of Happiness that's hiding somewhere from last year.

In other news, the Sox need bullpen help too.

They are called the "Graveyard of Leads" for a reason. It's incredible. Never has there been a lead they couldn't blow. Luckily for them, the Braves' pen was just as bad ... somehow and they managed to win 2/3. And JJ, yes, he's just insane. The Giants get the pleasure of facing him tomorrow. >:D

Um, yeah. I kind of want to throw Okajima off the Tobin. I also want to shake Theo and tell him that it is NOT 2007 ANYMORE and players have figured Okajima's "deceptive" motion out and he's not good enough to adjust. Therefore he is largely useless. Sigh.

In kind of amusing news - apparently the Sox tried to trade Ramon Ramirez to the Mets for Rod Barajas. Barajas then abruptly went on the DL.

... Cursed.

But seriously, if the Marlins don't get bullpen help and dump Jorge Cantu, I will be homicidal.

Honestly, the Braves had to try really hard to lose those games. Our bullpen usually isn't that bad, except Saito (this is my third team with him, I will never like him), but lately, even Johnny is.... wonky. Someone needs to do some MLB-wide voodoo or something.

I was screaming at Okajima: PFP! I'm surprised they couldn't hear me at Fenway from my house. Dear gods, he's done. Done! I used to be a big MannyDel supporter, but even him, I'm sick of. All of them, out. I'll keep Daniel and Jonathan, and the rest of them are gone. Hell, even Aardsma is doing better in Seattle of all places!

While I would have liked to see Ramirez go, I'm not impressed with Barajas, so I'm really happy that fell through. I think we could get better.

I know what I would do if I was the Diamondbacks... NOT trade Dan Haren to the Angels for four scrubs!

People are pretty livid in Phoenix about this deal. I've personally had enough with my team's ridiculous front office decisions that have killed our team since 2008.

In other news, can we have... a whole new bullpen for like a bucket of balls or something? Our bullpen has a 7.80 cumulative ERA....

If you can find a good bullpen, you can have it. It seems like everyone is on the search for good relief. I don't know where they all went, but they're not pitching. Some of the better relievers have been emergency position player conversions!

And also? Could not agree more about Danny Haren. That trade is horrible for the D-backs. I thought the Cliff Lee trade was bad, but at least Justin Smoak is.... something.

I'd trade Neftali Feliz and Tanner Scheppers to Colorado for Huston Street. Neftali is a natural starter, not a closer, but we don't have the space for him and are bond and determined to make him a closer, because we need one. (I would have suggested we trade Francisco. But who would want him? I doubt even Nolan Ryan could pull that off) So why not trade for one? We'd be getting one of the best closers in the league, the Rockies get a fireballer that they can choose to develop as they like, and a raw but excellent prospect in Scheppers.

Excuse me while I go daydream about CJ Wilson pitching an awesome 8 innings followed by a beautiful 9th inning by Huston..

But in all seriousness, this is a perfectly logical trade that both teams could get behind. Maybe a little heavy on Colorado's side in the future, but sometimes you have to do that to get what you want.

I would trade Alcides Escobar (Brewers) for JJ Hardy (Twins). Now, I realize that Escobar is still just a rookie, but he's in the majors now and making more mistakes than a little leaguer (and by little leaguer I mean little kids). You can NOT be doing that in the majors. It's a lot of why we haven't been doing so good. He's actually the guy they replaced Hardy with and I was not a happy camper. Hardy wasn't an All-Star player, but he was solid and he DIDN'T make mistakes on the field (as often as someone else does). Also? He's cute ^_^ But seriously, he had great chemistry with the other in-fielders and he just really fit with the atmosphere of the park
