Stitches are out, with only minor gushing (which I think startled the poor nurse more than it did me, as she had a better view) aside from a couple that are too deep inside my tummy button for medical science to retrieve without mounting a major spelunking expedition, and which will therefore jolly well have to find their own way out. The Alien is just internal scarring that should settle down in time. Good!
