rams spawned last night...by thursday they should hatch. by next monday, they should be free swimming. this time, i wont put the fry in a breeder net. instead, they will be transfered to the 10 gallon with the tiny internal filter. tank will be half full for a week after transfer, then will be completely filled as the fry continue to grow. by three ( Read more... )

i wound up with three L239 blue panaque plecos tonight. there were 5 in the original shipment, one died in transit, and another one was purchased by another individual (the person who informed us of this deal). they were smaller than i had hoped for (2.5" total length; this includes their tail fin) which means they are juveniles. but thats ok. give ( Read more... )

i turned on the lights and they were guarding the nest. i came back after taking a shower and eating some breakfast and they had moved the wigglers! ill have to see if i can get a photo...

i watched this evening as my rams dug a pit and then we had to leave for about a half an hour. when we came back, they had spawned again. ive got more photos, but im too lazy to upload them right now. looks to be about the same quantity of eggs as last time. this time, though, im going to leave the fry alone and see what i get. its pretty cool ( Read more... )

i moved the wigglers to the breeder net to keep mom and dad from potentially eating their young. they are so tiny. i hope some make it. in the meantime, if mom and dad spawn again, then i will leave those fry in with them to see which works out better

and i have baby german blue rams wiggling away in some java moss with mom and dad keeping watch :)
