5. The Boy’s Letter

KBS approached Jaejoong with a lead role and the older man wanted to bang his head against the wall.
He didn’t like lead roles but ever since his insanely successful attempt years ago, they wouldn’t leave him to play supporting roles anymore. He tried to stay away from drama work ever since then but occasionally the right role would pull him in.
And this did not have the right-
“I heard Jung Yunho was offered a minor part in it,” his other band mate, Kim Junsu, commented. “Something like the lead’s son or something like that.”
The three had met up for lunch. A rare meeting since each of them had been concentrating on solo activities.
Afterwards, Junsu paused purposefully and shot Jaejoong a look.
“So what?” Jaejoong asks nonchalantly but puts down his spoon.
Junsu and Yoochun share a look. Jaejoong glares at his soul mate. He knows who let the cat out of the bag and it infuriates him even more when Yoochun didn’t even have the shame to look guilty as Junsu did.
“Hyung, why don’t you try-”
“Try what? Acting as the vampire who falls in love with a human? No offense Junsu, but that is so last century,” Jaejoong says deadpan.
“Wait, it’s a vampire role? Seriously?!” Yoochun asks, bursting out into uncontrollable laughter. “Do it, do it!!”
“Why don’t you do it then?!” Jaejoong growls. Years ago, he would have jumped at the chance but now the forty three year old was, well, old.
“’Cause I’m not the one with a big crush on Jung Yunho,” Yoochun replies smugly.
“…that doesn’t mean I’ll take the role,” Jaejoong scoffs and he really doesn’t want to-
“He’s going to Japan,” Junsu says. “They’re going to start as a J-pop group.”
Jaejoong allows the information to sink in. Memories of their activities in Japan flooded him.
“He’s only going to be back in the spring for this drama,” Yoochun continues. “Otherwise, for the next two years or so, he’s not going to be in Korea.”
“But they’ve only just debuted,” Jaejoong argues.
“Oh hyung, they’ve been around for two years now,” Junsu laughs his peculiar laugh.
That night Jaejoong calls his manager and the next day it was confirmed that he will take the role.

A/N: I'm sorry for the slow development >___< I just want to build more on the whys and hows of their insecurities and obstacles.
