The Flint Manor Christmas party was not Theo’s favorite event at Flint Manor. I mean, he enjoyed a good party as much as anyone but prepping for the party always stressed him out so much. He just couldn’t enjoy it as much as he’d like

"Hi, Miss Frida," Bolly says, clambering awkwardly onto the stool next to her because his hands are full of tray and the tray is full of snacks. "You put nothing but Christmas music on the music list again."

"There's too much Christmas in your Christmas, Miss Frida," Bolly opines, setting the tray down and then pushing it towards Frida all, 'help yourself!' while also helping himself to a sausage roll. "Maybe you could throw in a few winter themed songs, and some Yule and New Years songs, and just some general bops to break it up. Is Kit here?" With rather more eagerness, he adds, "Is Comrade Scratchy?"

"There was a kitchen fire?!"

Bolly gives her a suspicious look while he eats a vol-au-vent which is a weird name. They should call it a pastry cup or something. "As long as nobody got hurt, that's the main thing," he says, which is basically what Grampa Fred says every time his experimental potions blow up. Bolly suspects Great Grampa George said it to Grampa Fred too.

"Gimme some credit here, would I let anyone get hurt? There wasn't even any structural damage," truly the only thing she hadn't been able to save was a kettle and it wasn't even anyone's favorite kettle.

Bolly giggles. He would claim it was a laugh but it was a definite giggle. "It barely even counts as a fire if there were no walls or doors or ceilings involved!"

"There you go then, barely even a fire."

"And the snacks are great." Tiny spicy sausages! "It's okay that you lost Kit. I lost Auggie. So he's probably in the library. Auggie, not Kit."

"Weird being on your own, huh?" Not that she and Kit are twins or particularly twin-like, but there's something to be said about how much of her life, her work, her spaces, are shared.

"We're in different houses at school now. And, y'know. Hogwarts is a boarding school. You get used to not seeing people all the time." He has a handful of crisps before adding, "Well, some people, 'cause, like, half the school are my cousins."

"I shared a house with my sister, but she was older. Sometimes it seemed like I didn't see her for ages and sometimes I wanted to strangle her for being around constantly," after a couple of sips of her drink she continues, "Which isn't just an old woman reminiscing about the good old days, I mean if you want to avoid or not avoid people Hogwarts is very accommodating."

"I wanted to spend the Christmas holidays exploring, but mum said we had to come home." Bolly would have protested more, but he thinks Auggie was homesick, so he didn't, and that is his story and he is is sticking to it. "At least it's easy to get into Ravenclaw Tower."

She laughs a little, "You've got six more years to go! Trust me, you might want to space the exploring out. The place gets smaller the older you get."
