The "culture of life" agenda, in which the strong must protect those who are powerless... if you were going for a subtle link to abortion issues here, Mr. Bush, the veil is awfully thin, and I think it's absolutely disgusting that you would use this issue in this way. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Most people, likely because of a lack of training rather than a lack of capacity, don't think for themselves, don't think rigorously about issues beyond what directly applies to them...and often not even then. It's no coincidence that areas with high levels of education (Boston, for example) also tend to be socially liberal. It takes mental energy to see things in grey rather than black and white.
