I saw an interview some years ago with this old Christian woman saying things like "we are many... they are few..." as if that was their justification for things like this. Which is kind of against the whole idea of the United States of America.

A woman in another article was like "I don't know why why we can't just pray like we always have. It's been that way for years" as if that means it's been the right thing to do.

I'm really beyond offended at this point. I'm not sure where I am!

I'm sure in the 50's that same woman would have been "I don't know why we can't just lynch black people like we always have."

I'm halfway tempted to actually go this year just to see what happens.
Of course, I don't remember much of my graduation anyway. Must be 'selective amnesia.'
I agree with you-I wish I'd done something. But it's easy to say that with the perspective I have now.

Holy shit, this pisses me off. You said just about everything I have to say on the matter.

Poor Arshiya. All she wanted was to not have a religion that's not hers forced down her throat, and now she's a terrorist.

It's really terrible. I imagine that something similar to what happened in Russell county will happen here. At some point someone will start a prayer and the majority of people will join in. ugh.

Randomly looking at the livejournals of friends' friends, I stumbled on this entry ...

Realizing it's months old by now, the "pagan moon-god worshippers" came from a man named Thomas Chick ...

A lot of Evangelical Fundamentalists really believe what this guy says. I don't know enough about world religions to be able to poke all the holes in his arguments, but his tracts about the Catholic church (I'm a religion teacher, or was) are built entirely on falsehoods, erroneous suppositions, and insanity.
