I’ve started using Day One, a nonsocial journal app, to try to rebuild a writing practice.

I miss the social component but also there is a different kind of p&q to it, an ease in the flow unscrutinized. Just a dark little page and hushed text in conversation with myself. In all my years of journaling, even handwritten, I have never quite had that - ( Read more... )

Hello. Nice to see your words again on LJ. Have you considered an industrial psychologist? From personal experience it changed the trajectory of my life and well being.

Tell me more! In what context did you see the person and how long and what did they do for you?

Thanks! I'm trying, it's a bit weird still but I'm alright at being solo in the house most of the time. I had Dave come stay the first few days; deeply meaningful that he'd drop everything to do it. He stalked thru the house like the private eyes we idolized in our younger days, trying to make sense of what the cops couldn't make sense of.

Glad you're still here too <3

Day One looks genuinely nifty, but I'm one of those weird holdouts who doesn't have a smartphone. I've also been wishing I had some kind of journal still. Peak LJ was the only time I was able to succeed at it. I tried keeping a Samuel Pepys style unreflective diary for a little bit, which was refreshing but still didn't get me hooked.

I still use LJ but it's become a sort of morbid record of when my life is shitty. And my life isn't shitty! It's great!

I've toyed with the idea of keeping a journal in Latin, which would fit with my pattern of assimilating all hobbies into one.
