In honor of the Sideways movie (which I watched the other weekend) I purchased a bottle of Pinot Noir wine. I also have a bottle of Merlot already opened. If you recall, the main character had a passionate hate of Merlot (all out of proportion to what I think would be reasonable, I think. I mean, Merlot is not great, but its not that aweful) and ( Read more... )

I didn't like Lost in Translation either. *g* I know that the characters were supposed to be flawed and annoying. I can deal with flawed, but annoying is...annoying. Why would I want to spend my leisure time watching annoying people? *l*

Ironically, I saw Sideways just yesterday...or tried to at least. It had been sitting there for ages, wasting away, and I was eager to get a move on my Netflix movies list again.

I hated it. Absolutely bored me stiff, although it was good in informing people about wine. *nodsnods*

I loved both Lost In Translation and Garden State. I didn't like Sideways much though. I sort of put it together with my dislike of Seinfeld, although I know you find not liking Seinfeld abominable. I never ever drink wine though, so maybe I just didn't appreciate it much. I didn't hate it, and I could see why you could see similarities between all three movies, but on balance I didn't enjoy sideways all that much. It did remind me of American Splendor a bit. Maybe you would like that? That might have just been because one of the characters was also in that. Oh, Ghost World was another one I've seen recently that was sort of along the same lines.
