One of my students made me cry today.
In a good way, thank heavens. Honestly, I have not felt totally at "home" in this position yet. Perhaps it is the rocky start I had with some of the parents, the rigorous academic expectations, or how much bigger in size it is. Whatever the case, I just never have felt like I measure up. Last post was two months ago... SHAME. I always expect a little bit of blogging hiatus during September when I'm corralling another batch of students into the routine, but the start of this school year has been the most difficult yet. To make a long story short, I was THISCLOSE to getting them when I was about 13 but then because of finances, my parents decided against it. I always love coming to visit my relatives in Arizona every summer. They are all so NORMAL, which is what we lack back home. It's my two aunts (Dad's sisters) and our two cousins, Shaunna and Angie. We've always been closer to these relatives than any on my Mom's side, and it's just unfortunate that these are the ones we see the least. Besides ( Read more... ) -

Been home for two weeks, and it'll be quite the transition to say the least. But little by little, it's settling.
