The big move and different ways you can help

Oct 16, 2009 09:07

So now that we officially have a place, we've begun the packing process. There's a couple different ways that folks can be helpful if they're interested.

1) Since I have to clean anything before I bring it over, it's difficult to really start the packing process until our moving day. Is there anyone, ideally in our neighborhood, but at least in the ( Read more... )

1) PLEASE tell me you're wearing a face-mask while doing the cleaning and packing. These days, you can pick them up in any drugstore b/c of the flu panic, but if you can't find them, let me know and I'll liberate a few from work.

2) Wish I could be more helpful, but I promise at least some words of encouragement! If it weren't for the cat issue, we'd happily let you store some stuff, but alas...

Hang in there, lady. I know it's all big and overwhelming, but I think it's going to be a wonderful change for you.

I hadn't grabbed a mask, probably because I hate wearing them. But, you're right, it's a good idea.

You can get nicer respirators for about $20 at the hardware store. See picture:

I do already have a box of gloves that I keep in my office for working on people's jaws from inside the mouth. That seems easy enough.

Part of my treatment is that I take a bath w/ 2 cups of ammonia in it every night, but I don't necessarily get to washing my face as well. That's probably a very good idea. That, and putting my hair in a braid.

It does feel excessive, but so does everything else about this.
And I don't want to feel like I did last night, or this morning. I barely slept.

Bebeh, it's so good to put it all out there, because youse alls got a HUGE network that you feed into regularly with love and care, and the great thing about that is that if all your peeps do a wee bit, then the total work is HUGE.

Storage space: we has it! Let's talk about what and where and when.

Do you guys need cleaning next week, like Tues--Thurs?

24th I am available!

This is a time when I am so so so SO grateful for my network of good folk. I feel incredibly well cared for and loved.

It would be awesome if we could leave a couple boxes of books with you for a couple months. Nathan thinks he'll have 10-12 boxes, and I'll have 3 or 4. I don't need you to take all of them, we can definitely spread this around. How many would you be comfortable with?

Tuesday and Thursday I work at the hospital in the evenings, but Nathan will be around and I bet he'd love your help.

Hooray for the 24th!

You know what I need to do, is go through my stupid junk in the garage and cull my own herd; then I can see how much real room we have for boxes. I know SOME will fit, though!

(Will garage work? Do you want to SNIFF it first?)

That was Tues through Thurs. How about Weds?

Let me know scheduling for 24th!

Don't worry about the sniffing - anything we store with you will be for a couple months and we'll have to clean it before we bring it home anyway.

Wednesday I've got rehearsals from 6-10. poop.

I will keep you informed about the 24th for sure!

Do you still need boxes from me? If not, they're going into recycling.

We'll take 'em. If we don't need 'em, we'll just find them a home.

Cool. When can you come get them? I think Cindy's taking some, but we have a lot of them, and I know she was interested in RPS's blue bins.

I suppose I probably can't feed you at my house, so maybe I can feed you next weekend, as well as doing some cleaning and packing. Friday afernoon? I have an NLG party in Oakland that night.
