i have a feeling that reading for my postmodern lit class has set me off. i've been a cranky mess since i tried to re-read part of nova express by william s burroughs for class. i got angry because i tried to sort out the plot & i couldn't. my pride surfaces in weird situations, i suppose

Post-modernism is stupid, because if you ask someone to define it, it would take at least a few pages. Fuck that.

What books do you have to read?

jazz by toni morrison, slaughter house 5 by vonnegut, & being there by jerzy kosinski.

the introduction to my textbook spent 30 pages defining post-modernism, comparing & contrasting it to modernism, dadaism, & other similar movements in the 20th century. it was ridiculous.

I've heard very good things about Vonnegut, and I want to read that book too. Tell me when it's scheduled in your syllabus, and I'll get started on it as well. We can have an online book club thing!
