Book 30 was The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker
book 31 was Push by Sapphire
book 32 was Other People's Dirt by Louise Rafkin

Book 28 was When Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris. He never disappoints.

Book 27 was The Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent. It was pretty good- dealing with the salem witch trials from the perspective of the daughter of a condemned "witch" who was herself also imprisoned. Different from my usual fare, but I liked it.

book 25 was The Brief and Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz.
book 26 was Hope's Boy by Andrew Bridge

Book 24 was "Mommy's Little Girl: On sex, motherhood, porn & cherry pie." I used to really love Susie Bright's stuff when I was younger because she takes a stand I'd never seen anyone take on female sexuality. Book 22 was A Death In Belmont by Sebastian Junger. This was about a murder that happened in the same vicinity and time period that the Boston Strangler was making his rounds, and made cases both for and against why the goldberg killing could have been an additional strangler victim. Book 20 was "The First Hour I Believed" by Wally Lamb. Now most of this was really good. It was centered around a couple who was vastly affected by the Columbine shootings. I would have liked it even better if they had stuck to that theme, but there were tangents regarding the civil war that I felt were unneccessary ( Read more... )

Book #19 was "The Undertaking" by Thomas Lynch. Not bad, not great.

Book # 18 was "Walking on Fire" by beverly bell. I was highly interested as the subtitle was "haitian women's stories of survival and resistance" but it just got repetative. We have a huge haitian population here, and I would like to understand more what they have gone through, so it was good in that sense.
