So I'm planning my first "real" party. It will be a Dia De los Muertos party on Nov 1. The invitations are done, I'm working on the menu now, and I have some handy people coming over to put some fine tuning on the house to get it presentable for people who have not seen it before ( Read more... )

Here are my thoughts - go with whoever shows up and have fun. Even if it is only one person. I have been upset sometimes that people will RSVP for a dinner and then either not show up at all or be 45 minutes to 3 hours late, and I will have had all of the food ready exactly at the time I said everything will be ready.

Go with the flow and have a good time.

things that make a good party in raena's book:

    twinkle lights (and/or ambient lighting)
  • plenty of different drinks to choose from
  • appetizers with little plates
  • breezy outdoorsness (very probable on nov 1st in south florida)
  • games . . this may sound childish, but all of my friends have game nights, and it's really REALLY fun. things with teams are nice, like catch phrase. or LCR (game with dice that is REALLY fun and you can win money).
wish i could come :(

I wish you could too!! If this one goes well, it will be a several times a year event for different random holidays. You will be able to come for one eventually!! :)

I really would like it if you would come! I was just worried that you won't know anyone. If you're comfortable (or would like to bring a friend) I'd love to have you!! Will email you the info! :)
