And here Personality: In Fairy Tale Land, when we see Red at her earliest point in time (that we know of), she's very sheltered. Granny's overprotective, and Red's tired of it. She's grown up her entire life with her grandmother keeping her locked up, never letting her have any sort of fun. But despite Granny's efforts, Red falls head over heels for a boy from their village. Peter. And with the wolf terrorizing the village every full moon, which then causes Granny to keep Red in her room and the door barred, they can't run away. Which just saddens Red, torn between obeying her grandmother, and giving into the overpowering throes of young love. Like many young folks, Red occasionally is a slave to her emotions. It's not always bad. When she's happy, she's all smiles, she's friendly, she welcoming. When Snow was in trouble and hiding in Granny's barn, Red didn't know who she was, but she knew she needed help, so she did what she could to help her. And they became fast friends. And on the opposite side of the spectrum, when she's upset or angry, there is no changing her mind. She was distraught over learning that she was the wolf and that she'd killed Peter.
{SPOILERS FOR S2E7}
After Red finds out that she's a werewolf, for some time, she is confused as to why Snow White is still traveling with her, helping her escape the village. Red just couldn't understand why Snow would willingly travel with a monster. That was all she could see herself as. Even though she was only the wolf three nights out of the month, Red truly believed she was a monster, a murdered. But while she might be a wolve three nights a month, she's fiercely loyal. Through thick and thin. And that transfers over to Ruby in Storybrooke. Once she'd learned how to control the beast, Red proved that Snow was more important to her than the pack of wolves she'd temporarily joined. She killed a prominent member of the pack to save Snow's life. Snow, Granny, Charming. All important people. All people she would kill for, and throw herself into danger for.
In Storybrooke, Ruby is quite a bit different from Red, but at the same time, still similar. That fierce loyalty is still there. When Emma and Mr. Gold look for the Storybrooke version of Cinderella whose name I am too lazy to look up right now, Ruby, at first, said she hadn't seen Cinderella, but as it turned out, she'd lent her her truck, so she could get away. But where Red wanted to leave, but wasn't very vocal about it, Ruby is extremely vocal about leaving and going to Boston. She has a very rebellious streak. The talk of going to Boston. The slightly promiscuious way she dresses, does her make up. The way she makes eyes at every red blooded, attractive young man in the diner. She and Granny fight about those things and more. But after quitting the diner and helping Emma with finding David and the jewelry box with a heart in it, Ruby settles down some. She doesn't dress like a street walker anymore and her make up's toned down. She finds a way to express herself through her attire, but not look like something out of a pin up catalog. She realizes that she belongs with her grandmother, helping at the diner and the hotel. She doesn't have anymore thoughts of running away to Boston, she's perfectly fine with staying in Storybrooke.
After the curse was broken, (and reuniting with Snow and Charming) and the Wraith attack, Ruby takes point in working on getting the town back to normal. She directs people where they need to go and when the Mother Blue Fairy Superior questions David's leadership, Ruby immediately shuts her down, having full faith in her friend. When David was more focused on getting Emma and Snow back from FTL, while everyone else in town were preparing to all leave Storybrooke, Red kept it together. She kept the people in check and snapped David out so he could lead the people from his 'kingdom'. She brought his focus back to Storybrooke, so he could help the citizens before they did something awful. It seems as if she's back to 'normal'. More Red than Ruby.
When Belle goes to the Diner, Ruby immediately hones in. It's as if she can sense that Belle's had herself a bit of trouble and could use a friendly smile and another iced tea. When David and Mr. Gold go to Granny's to see if Belle's been there, Ruby had barely known her a day and had acted as if she'd never met Belle, worried that Mr. Gold would somehow hurt her. When she makes friends, she makes them fast and she goes into HYPER-PROTECTIVE mode. But that's how she is. Man's best friend.....only bigger and with sharper teeth and claws.

Powers/Abilities: In Fairy Tale Land, Red is a werewolf, so she occasionally has this problem where she turns into a giant-ass wolf. When she's in that form, she is a force to be reckoned with. When she first finds out she's the werewolf, it seems as if she cannot control herself in that form. But in a later flashback, she has full control over her wolf form by scouting around a castle and attacking guards.
{SPOILERS FOR S2E7}
We learn during the first full moon after the curse was broken, that Ruby does, in fact, still contain her personal curse. She does turn into a wolf. By the end of the episode, she relearns how to control herself when she's the wolf. And while she does have her cloak back (she won't in Mandalus), she is able to think like herself in her wolf form.
