I've intended to get this done for a few weekends now, keep getting kicks in the butt from folks who want me to keep this darned thing updated, but, well, time just sort of keeps getting away from me. So, now it's actually a Monday, and I am off early from work because I had to go in early. I hate waking up early, but, I have to admit, the little ( Read more... )

So glad your job is going well! That part is good.
It does stink that they don't seem to care about singles though. :/
Grrr. So often people with children take advantage of those with none in the workplace. Maybe they're not doing it consciously, but it still stinks.
Ah well. At least you have a job, and it's a good one. =)

As for church...most churches have a 6:00 pm Sunday Night service. Then you don't have to get up early. I could never make a Sunday morning service...eek. I'd be asleep! Then again, I'm totally nocturnal.

It's good to hear from you! =)

Time to start saying "If I do this for your family, what are you going to do for me in the future?" and get in in writing, because otherwise it will NEVER stop and they will always expect you to be there for them. And if you need to even take your rats to the vet, they'll read you the riot act for daring to take five minute off unless you have a guilt card up your sleeve.

I don't know about securing exchanges in favors on this sort of thing, but I am definitely documenting how often this has been happening. It continues to be ridiculous. I know my manager agrees, and I think my boss is starting to see it, though now they are starting to work up higher along the chain of command to get me off of what I'm doing to do their work for them. Seems to me that will eventually backfire on them, though. Eventually, they will notice, too, I think.

As far as me taking off for a vet visit, actually, I have to give credit where credit is due: When Memphis was on her last days, they were nothing but nice to me, and my manager pushed to make sure I had time to take care of things. He really is a good guy, but limited in how much push he has, and, unfortunately, all too easy to get steamrolled himself as a result.
