Having my groin touched

I'm startled by the amount of concern being caused by the new TSA safety procedures.  I don't think that either turning me into c- grade porn or having a bored tsa guy pat me very thoroughly will make me any safer... but at the same time, I'm startled and a little annoyed by the fact that this issue has gotten far more coverage than many of the ( Read more... )

Ah, but no one actually reads the Patriot Act... Or if they do, understands it. Grabbing gramma's boobies they understand and can have outrage about. Besides, the wire tapping and such only affects brown people, right?

Ack. I *was* just going to bed...

I hadn't thought about the personal history side of the issue - you're right, that's got to be an extra pouch full of icky... and you're probably right about the immediacy issue, too... it's so much easier if you don't have to *notice* the creepy things...

I can understand the reason for this: it is someplace where you could hide something dangerous. Then again, I comprehend why you and many other people wouldn't like this and why this sort of thing is impractical.

I guess I'm just one of the weird ones. When I heard that 9/11 happened, and America was being "invaded by terrorists" my first thought was "well, it's about time. We've been sticking our nose in other people's business for decades"
When my room mate at the time said "I'm scared, I just want to go home." I replied with "You live in St. Paul. That's on the map. Currently you're in Morris, MN. People living in MINNESOTA don't even know where Morris is."

Personally, I think the whole TSA thing is a load of crap. Part of this is based on the fact that I seldom fly, so if someone bombs the plane I'm on it's obviously an act from God. Part of me says that the weirdos are going to do it anyways; and we should stop wasting money trying to pretend we can "stop" them.

Mostly though, I try to avoid thinking of those things. Because I positively feel that I have no control over either the TSA thing or the invasive wiretapping thing. The only thing I could do is move away. And the husband doesn't speak German

Totally with you on this. The total misplacement of outrage continues to amaze and sadden me.
