whee! Week one of adult-hood complete!

Mar 22, 2008 11:24

So this week was the first week of my new job; getting up at 6am, donning casual but professional clothes, popping in the "new" car and jetting to work (okay, the new car is named "b*tch face" and she's a bright freakin' red camaro. Yup. I have a camaro. It makes me laugh every time I see my car. It was in the best shape and had the least ( Read more... )

Yay for adulthood and new jobs! I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. I'll be looking forward to (not) hearing about the crazy people in your life.

On a side note, Whitey gets to do Chapter 51 involuntary commitment stuff through the public defender's office. He gets to deal with crazy people all the time too. Some stories are funny, some are sad, and some just don't seem all that crazy to me.

In any case, yay for happiness and red camaros.

lol, thanks sweetpea. The nice thing about red camaros (and having a job w/ weekends) is that they can go to kenosha very easily. :)

heh, thanks! I'm a case manager for a non-profit agency called Trilogy. I deal with people with long histories of mental illness (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder) that are going through a rough period in their life and need help with rent (or with homeless people, getting them off the streets), obtaining and actually taking meds, getting them on food stamps or social security, and eventually, when they are less symptomatic and more stable psychologically, help them find a job and become a contributing member of community. Much of it is listening to their problems and helping them change negative behavior. It's pretty intense, but I love it.
I miss you and E, any knowledge when the two of you may be back in the states?

that sounds awesome!!! i'm so happy you found a job that lets you use what you learned all those years toiling in school, as well as your mad, natural-born Minister of Internal people skills.

as for me, coincidentally, this is the first week after i quit my job as a research assistant in the dysfunctional not-for-profit trucking/transportation research organization i had been working at for almost a year and a half. towards the end, all i wanted to do after work was talk to Bob or drink a bottle of wine or in front of the TV until it was time to get up and do it all again. good riddance! i took what was left of my soul and now i'm trying not to enjoy being a "homemaker" as much as i do. eventually i need to find at least part-time work, but taking care of my home and my man (and having time and energy to cook a nice dinner before 8pm!) is what i really love to do. (I really should have been born several decades ago, i think ( ... )
