The wasting of the human's lives was pointless so I altered time and gave them a second chance. If they chose to lose die a second time, that would be their choice. I however chose for Wesley. After time changed and the others fled, I caused a ripple, grabbed Wesley and left with him to go and find the slayer ( Read more... )

Calling Illyria all of the names I'd ever heard had been futile. She had not responded, just dragged me through time as if I were a rag doll. Stopping the vehicle in front of a building as she had raised a hand I hissed at her. "Here?" She'd been ordering me through the streets of Los Angeles as if she were Patton marching across Europe. Apparetnly god-kings didn't take the 405.

What was the council up to anyway?

I gave Wesley a quick nod and opened the door. I could feel the slayer within the building. I could feel her pain and her fear like a knife in my belly and I ached to tear it out. I looked at Wesley and said, "Stay behind me." He would be almost pointless in there, yet, other than the slayer, no other human would be helpful in a battle.

I walked through the front doors and was immediately greeted by two humans acting as a pathetic guard to the building. I swatted them away like buzzing flies and began moving in the direction of the slayer.

Rolled my eyes as Illyria strode down a hallway. Damn stupid of her to not check the doors as she passed. A council operative jumped out from behind her and I fired the shotgun into his midsection, putting him down for good.

Catching up to her I moved ahead. What were they doing to Faith? Perhaps I could ask Illyria, however that would involve attempting to be social with her which I was in no mood for.

Stopping in the middle of a long corridor, I turned my head and listened for the slayer. She was in a room, trapped. I could sense her to my left and as I turned I was facing three armed humans. I sneered at them as I strode into their bullets. I side stepped their futile attempts to wound me and grabbed the first by the throat.

Picking him up off the ground I tossed him through the wall next to me and into another room. I kicked the second in the face, sending him flying down the hall and landing with a satisfying thud. The third managed to land a blow, which earned him a glare and a smirk. I picked him up by his head and slammed his face into the ground. The crunch of his bones earned him another smirk and I left him bleeding on the ground and headed toward Faith.

Why did she have to want to talk? If anyone in the history of humanity should understand the need for a good fuck on occassion I would have thought it would be her.

"What is it you think the two of us have Faith? You wanted something from me, I needed to move on from Fred. Mission accomplished."

Standing I leaned over the desk, glaring into her dark eyes. "Want to know why I hate you Faith? Its because you act like you care."

Opening the pack of cigarettes, I took one out and looked around on top of the desk for a lighter...matches, anything. Finally I found a small book of matches underneath a book and used it to light my cigarette. Taking a deep drag, I felt a little better, damn I'd wanted one of these for days.

I looked up when he started talking about how much he hated me. Thought he might get over that sometime this century, but I guess not. "I'm not acting." I said coldly, narrowing my eyes at him.

"Besides, you got your girl back right? You and Fred off in England. Shouldn't everything be all smiles and puppies and fluffy bunny rabbits now?" I asked sarcastically. I'm not bitter.

A bitter laugh escaped as I fell back into my chair. Fred was no more my girl then she had ever been. My chances with Spike were better it seemed.

Opening a desk drawer I pulled a bottle of whiskey free, looking into the amber liquid. Drinking, my first response when faced with these types of situations.

"No. I did not get my girl back. She never loved me you see, thats what I found out."

I watched him with what I hoped was an expressionless face as he drank the whiskey. Same ol' alcoholic Wes, some things I guess never change.

"Sorry." I said quietly. Guess I knew why Wesley was back in town now, Fred had dumped his ass. Not that I blamed a girl, Wes was kind've a bummer these days, and Fred definitely seemed like the kinda chick that couldn't handle someone like him.

Uncertain as to what to do I followed her as she walked, barely staying upright.

"Faith!" Couldn't she just answer one simple question. Had they poisoned her? Whover that Robin fellow had thought he had been, I was glad I had shot him now. Of course this was really my fault, couldn't forget that now could I?

My vision was starting to cloud over, as I turned around and faced him. Holding my hands over my eyes I looked at Wesley.

"This is how it starts." I muttered out, trying really hard not to cry. Leaning up against the wall I looked around. "You're gonna have to lock me up somewhere." I knew this whole place would be destroyed by teh time I came to, either that or I would end up in an alleyway surrounded by broken glass.

Watching her suffer I felt my blood turn cold. So much of this reminded me of Fred, how she had died. The way she had tried to be brave.

And now it was Faith. Walking to her she offered no resistance as I picked her off her feet. There was only one place to keep her now. Angel's cage in the basement. With her down for the count I could only hope he didn't come calling. Carrying her down the steps I felt as if I'd seen this show before.

"Do you need anything?"

He set me down on the concrete floor and I watched him step back through, heard the click of the door closing. Closing my eyes I sat down on the cold floor, my back up against the cage wall.

"No." I said quickly, the pounding in my head was getting worse, so I rested my forehead on my knees.

"Just...don't leave."
