Insightful as always. I never would have thought of that on my own...I'll have to do a little research on the subject though. Thanks!

Yes, it seems I'm not alone in the world of freaking out over the future.

I've actually always imagined you running your own business.

I guess, in recent years, I've kind of assumed it would be an eatery of one sort or another. That doesn't necessarily have to be the case, but... I've imagined a joint where there's Buck 65 playing on the speakers in the background and, if I so choose, I can get anything ranging from a grilled cheese to a massive plate of spaghetti to a double rum & Coke.

There are lots of government grants out there for an individual interested in pursuing his own business. Plus, you'd get to pick where you want to be, whether it's Hali, Freddy, the South Shore, CB or parts unknown.

This is a notion that I've kicked around in my head for a long time. My biggest concern is that if it fails, I'm fucked, that and I don't know jack-shit about business, but I suppose that could be rectified. A big investment, something that I'm not sure I'm ready to attempt by myself. That being said, if someone else was to be looking for a partner to run a business, I think I'd jump at it.

There's also a cash flow problem with franchising if you want to go with something that's well known.

Jana and I enquired about the restrictions and requirements for pursuing a Burger King franchise in the Bridgewater area, and while we were free to proceed in terms of geographic locale (the head office actually conceded that they had been watching the market here carefully for nearly a decade) the restriction of having to possess a financial networth in excess of $800,000 was kind of a small (read: large) stumbling block.

That'll always be the dream, no doubt about it.

I could honestly see you running you own restaraunt, bakery, or even being a landscape worker. But Pat's message down below hits the nail on the head. I can see you having your own business, as he describes.
