Recession slowing?

I had the economist at MSU send this to the group that went to his presentation about the economy getting better, even though things seem pretty bad. I have to agree from looking at trends, that things have a cycle to them. What is funny to me is the angry comments after the article. It is almost like people WANT it to be shitty! My dad has played the stock market for years. His last comment was along the lines of: I can't figure out if things are as bad as they are claiming. He's followed the trends as well as this guy. He did say, buy when the market gets to 5000 again. :rolleyes:

I just posted a huge thing about how great it went, and stupid LJ ate it :(
However, it went awesome, and I'm about to go home to take more loads over to the new house!
I can honestly say, I love the house and I'm really happy with everything (except moving stuff...that is no fun!) I was a hugging fool yesterday! :)

That sort of matches what I've been seeing in stores -- prices are no longer going down and the "clearance" rush of last fall seems to be over. Maybe because stores are buying less inventory (Target is certainly a different shopping experience than it was 6 months ago), and we're just adjusting to healthier, more realistic consumer buying patterns? That helps with stability, but doesn't necessarily mean that jobs are going to be added (which the author admits).
