Isn't it, like, normal not to take summer classes? At the UW summer quarter is open to nonmatriculated students and most of the regular student body goes back to wherever the hell they came from.
Not to manswer you, because you didn't ask for advice (although ending an entry with an interrogative leaves you open to all kinds of barely-solicited replies) but in my experience, knowing someone on the inside who likes you makes all the difference. Find someone in the right office who has a scintilla of sympathy for you (listens to the same music? Has a kid the same age as yours?), make contact periodically, and the wheels stay greased.
And no, you will not die working at S-Mart. I have a hunch.
I also think you'll be moving on from the Mart. You've put in much sweat equity and want it too badly for it not to happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things work out. (I didn't think one had to take summer classes, either.)
