Foods I have tried recently that I approve of

Yeah, this is not exactly an imaginative post title, but it is true.

Kozy Shack Simply Well pudding, Lemon Ginger flavor: Very refreshing and pretty healthy for a pudding. Kozy Shack has a reputation for using natural ingredients anyway, so it is sort of funny to me that they have this new Simply Well line that seems to be targeting organic ( Read more... )

I would try the lemon ginger pudding and the ginger ice cream - I <3 ginger! The nuts sound good, too. And I hear you on the extra packaging. I'm thinking of growing my own spinach this year because I hate buying baby spinach at the store - the kind I buy (always organic when it comes to spinach) always comes in a big clear plastic tub. I go back and forth on it, too, because I love healthy stuff but I also have a big aversion to unnecessary packaging. It feels kind of dumb to bring my own bags (which I always do) only to fill them up with things that would survive a flood.

Stop & Shop has new packaging for some of their salad greens that is made of I think 70% recycled plastic, but they don't do the whole salad kit thing, so I don't get them.

That's neat - I haven't looked at them in a while. I'm not a prepackaged salad kind of girl either - unless it's a holiday and I'm desperate for something easy so I can focus on other cooking things.

Spinach and lettuces are WICKED easy to grow. I'm thinking of trying to plant some this year if I can find a place for 'em.

Okay, those puddings sound AMAZING. I normally refuse to buy those "nutraceutical" foods that claim to be healthy because they've added stuff, but I'm a huge pudding fan, and those flavours sound great. I may have to find these. And/or try making homemade pudding in those flavours. OM NOM ( ... )

That must be surprisingly less fat for Haagen Daaz. :P My favorite favorite favorite ice cream is Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip 1/3 calories 1/2 fat. It's like 120 calories per half cup? Not terribly bad.

Those nuts look good. Are they more expensive than other nuts? I've tried those glazed pecans (I think also by Emeralds) and they are amazing, to the point that I could eat almost the entire package at once.

I think it is a little less fat than regular Haagen Dazs, but it isn't exactly a low-fat option. That is the sacrifice to make for some good ice cream, though.

I think these flavored nuts are a little more expensive, but I'm not otherwise a flavored nut buyer, so I don't know how they really compare.

Also, got the postcard from Portland yesterday. It is great! Thanks so much!
