Alright, I got involved in a conversation at RAM tonight over some drinks, and I thought it could be something interesting to ask on LJ. So here goes. (I know I've been absent for a while. I should update on real life sometime soon ( Read more... )

The best date I ever went on was actually a date/mother's day thing, where my then-boyfriend took me into Boston, and we just walked all around for the entire and went to FAO Schwartz and he got me a giant stuffed dog, and then on the way back he gave me a vase of roses.

The most romantic gift I ever got was a pair of diamond earrings, and it had nothing to do with the value of the earrings, but the fact that they were given to me for no reason (no holiday, birthday, etc). They were a "just because I love you" gift, and those are the best kind of all.

And it didn't hurt that they were diamond earrings.

oooh brett.

hands down, the best gift that i received was a package in the mail. its contents included the new promise ring cd [at the time], a handwritten letter [so special], and the best mixtape that i've ever been given. things like that don't cost alot of money like diamond earrings, but are far more valuable because it took alot more time to put together for me. ask me to show you the tape sometime, because the case and artwork was all made by this guy. and actually when we hung out he brought me handpicked/stolen flowers tired with a simple rope. it was one of the sweetest things i've ever gotten, i still have them.

as for the date. hmm, i haven't had too many aweinspiring amazing ones, but i guess it just had to be a whole day of hanging out with this person. we ate at panera, and then went to [smelly] bradford beach and walked in the waves and then sat on the rocks and talked. the best part i guess was the making out that followed in my car.

gah, i've said enough.
but do you work the weekend of aug 7-8ish?
ikea is calling

I've never been all that creative with the date thing. Probably one of my better ones was for mine and Beth's two year anniversary. We got a hotel room at the Hyatt in Schaumburg (yeah, I know). After we checked in we went to Busse woods and hung out most of the day. We brought sandwiches and had a little picnic. I brought my guitar and played while we both sang. Later, we got all dressed up and went to Macaroni Grill for dinner, not the fanciest place, but it was special to the two of us. It was a late dinner so we just went back to the hotel ;-) The next day we had a really nice brunch at the hotel. Then we went back to Busse Woods and I rented a rowboat for a while. We went out on the lake for a while, then I had to drive her to catch a bus back to U of I. I know that's more of an overnight kinda thing, but it's the closest to a date that I've ever really had, hehe ( ... )

I think I know what you mean.. take a chill pill!

I think a road trip/drive would be nice. Like a drive to somewhere interesting/different than your usual environment.

ANd that's about it, really. So in the end all the jewelry, expensive meals and means to 'impress' always add to the stupid notion that (many) females are attracted to the dough in a guy's wallet. Sad.. quite sad.

The sad truth is that many women are attracted to the wallet. But luckily most men know that those women aren't worth pursuing, so creativitiy is still better than just spending a lot of money.
