I'm too tired to write a proper comment right now, so I'll just say that it's been a great ride. I like the way you ended it, with Ennis going to Sage to exorcise his demons. So many knots to undo before they can find their way forward together and make the dream a reality.
I know I've criticized some of your choices, but I've found The Outland a gritty, well-written story with a real flavor of two poor ranch boys trying to make it together. I'm going to read it again as a whole story and see what I think from that perspective. I may still have questions, but I think I will understand your intentions better.
I'm very glad you didn't give up, and I hope this isn't the last of your writing for us.

Jenny, I've always loved your thoughtful responses. You've kept me on my toes. And I appreciate so much the time and care you've taken. Thank you very much.
And you'll be able to follow your own links :) You do a splendid job and I never remember to thank you for it. And thank you so much for your support of my story. Greatly appreciated.
It was a pleasure to read this story from the very first word. I can't thank you enough for sharing it with us. Their life was rough and hard but in the end just as they've dreamed of- full of love and understanding. I esp. liked how Ennis was allowed to come to terms with his own past and make peace with his memories of Earl. Thank you for a truly outstanding story Paula
and young men with all of it before them might lie down to sleep and never wake up. But in this world, hope remains alive. I just reread this last chapter and I missed the meaning of this in the first read. This hommage to Heath brought tears to my eyes. Paula
I thought it might be too much of a jolt but I included it anyway, since Heath's death shook me so badly. I'm crying as I write this. I miss him so much. I find it so hard to understand why Broome St should have been the end of the road for one of our boys.
And thank you so much for coming along on this ride with me.
This was an absolutely wonderful story and I'm so glad I was along for the ride. The last chapter wrapped everything up beautifully but I'm so sorry it's over. A sequel would be wonderful.
