Luckily stumbled accros your link at Dave Cullen forum. This is achingly beautiful! My personal epilogue to BBM, composed only in my mind because I have no writing talent, is similar to your story. My little daydream is Ennis receiving a postcard from Mrs. Twist saying her husband had died, would he like to come run the ranch. She's like a second mother to him, grandmother to the girls, etc. Ennis in part fulfills Jack's dream of running the ranch, takes care of his beloved mother, shares memories and love of Jack, you get the picture! Mine would probably prove too painful for Ennis on a daily basis, yours is much better and WOW can you write!
Even though I just posted the last comment, I re-read your story and oh my God, it is truly a work of art! The part about Ennis not knowing or feeling Jack's death for months...chills down the spine. So painful to read, fits right in with the original BBM movie/short story. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent!

A big thank you to everyone who responded here. I don't get on a computer too often so it takes me a while to thank people. I'm glad there are a few of us who get into the more realistic stories.
