I love this story. Jack waking up, Ennis caring for him, their being together was wonderful. When he said he was gonna leave, OMG!!! I was shocked and poor Jack crushed. Jack's confession and pleas in the truck were so perfect even though painful to hear), and their sweet beginning in the outland, where Ennis is 'with' him finally, hell yeah!

"I thought you was goin a die, Jack."...

He placed a dry little kiss on his man's waiting lips, murmured "G'night, Jack," and closed his eyes. ...

but its unruly length had reminded him of their days on Brokeback...

"...them other men, they were nothin to me, didn't know most a their names, it was only ever you," ...."Twenty years I hid what I was, and I did it just so you'd stay. Cause I knew you didn't wanta hear it. But if you don't want me the way I am then I'll pretend to be what I ain't, I'll be whatever you want me to be just so long as you stay with me.

I really liked these parts too:

Then Ennis carried his precious burden back downstairs - Jack smiling into Ennis's chest as the third-from-bottom step gave out an extra-large crack at their combined weights - and left him in the wheelchair in Mrs Twist's care....

... a delicious glow warmed him from within, a happiness he couldn't ignore, because Jack was alive and awake and awaiting his return at the end of the day's toil.

So much in one chapter! This story is so well written and I am so glad that Jack told Ennis what was in his heart.

Ennis's tender care of Jack is almost heartbreaking. It's just too wonderful for words.

Perfection! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Teri. Yes, I wondered if perhaps I'd put too much in, but I'm no good at padding stories out. I'm miserly with words, it seems.
