oh, no, you didn't leave us hanging again...!! Oh, yes you did.

What a beginning! I was LOL'ing with Jack...and I loved the shaky legs, once Jack is out of sight of the little del Mar trio; and how he sees them looking his way. I could feel his relief.

Ennis made some subtle strides, in this one, since the big revelation, last chapter-really liked the sun on his curls; and Jack bringing up the ranchhand again-typical. His timing is always questionable, isn't it?

Great work.

Oh yes, I did :D

Nice point about the timing. SS Jack never really read Ennis correctly.

I guess it will take a little longer for Junior to warm up to Jack, but I'm sure she will sooner or later. Once she sees how truly happy her daddy is with him, she'll come around to Francie's way of thinking.
Wonderful chapter. I love reading this story. I'm looking forward to your next update. : )

Junior's a watcher and a thinker, I think. It's fascinating how Annie Proulx gave the girls distinct personalities, without wasting many words on them. I'm inclined to think "my" Francie doesn't have a clue.

Thank you. It was pleasant to write. Much unspoken stuff inside all the words. These taciturn types are wonderful to play with.

Very sweet of Jack to help Ennis picking out gifts for his girls, and even sweeter of Ennis to let Jack see his girls. I like very much the fact that Jack can now openly joke about "checking out guys", "being gay" with Ennis and even tease Ennis about it. In some way, that cheating incident has liberated both Ennis and Jack. Some good coming out of it.

I love that Ennis has to keep himself in check, cos his feelings for Jack is so strong that maybe it's visible to others. I think Junior has some clues, if not the true nature of Ennis and Jack's relationship, at least how important Jack is to Ennis, and vice versa...

Mmmmm.... i wonder what Jack is cooking! with that annoying smirk... devil and Jack?

Thanks for the update :)

Yes, I feel Jack can't believe his luck that he doesn't have to be guarded in what he says to Ennis any longer. Twnty-plus years is a long time for "things unsaid".
