Oh, my. It's true that he would've found out one day, but what an abrupt and cruel outing for Jack and Ennis. While I'm sad that this change was forced upon them, the fact that they are able to stand strong together shows the depth of their love and commitment and gives me a sense of peace and hope. I feel so sorry for Sybil, too, especially after seeing the pleasure she found at Christmas. The note they tried to compose to Bobby broke my heart, especially Ennis's part. To think of having to practically beg your loved ones not to think badly of you just for being who you are. Sigh. The Brokeback sequence was beautifully written. I really did have the sense of reading missing moments from the ss, and yet you blended them seamlessly into your own story. Thanks for the update, amazing as always.

I think OMT is going to realize there is no way you can run a ranch by himself. The story has been quite full of all the work it takes to run a ranch. The branding is coming up. What is OMT going to do?

I wasglad that Ennis was there when OMT ran off on Jack. Otherwise he wouldn't have really understood how it it was.

Another powerful chapter with the shock of remembered cruelty from Jack's hateful old man, especially after all Jack had endured and survived. Perhaps what the oldman hates is the committed and devoted care but all were old. The world had moved on, leaving the mountain to guard its secrets alone, to keep the memories of that distant summer, both glorious and painful.
Jack received from Ennis to pull him back from death which is something noone would ever give him. Even amidst the sadness and injustice of this particular moment in the plot, there is your beautiful, lyrical prose:

"...but all were old. The world had moved on, leaving the mountain to guard its secrets alone, to keep the memories of that distant summer, both glorious and painful."

Thank you for another insight into their journey.

This was beautifully written and so poignant! I hope that they can get around the evil that OMT has spewed - that they can get back the sweet life!
Rob must know the truth - and the girls. Love this story!
Thanks!

You, my dear, are a consummate author. I was simply blown away by this chapter, all of it, especially the way you had OMT's and Lureen's voices written so well. I could see them, actually HEAR them; I was blown away by your writing talent in all of that dialogue involving them.

So sweet, your Jack and Ennis. So in love, so in it for the long haul, come hell or high water. Poor babies, it's never easy for either of them to live in this world, but always together, always hopeful of a better tomorrow, even while giving thanks for today.

Lovely, lovely work. I think you made my... week! Thanks.
