Wow, it's been approximately forever since I last posted! Things are generally going well--kitties are growing but still adorable, Bella continues to love school--with occasional clouds, like having the flu for Christmas, and it generally being REALLY bitterly cold all the time. I've been keeping up with all of your lives, though, which is always ( Read more... )

OMG! I'm quite envious of your Grand Tour, but I'll look forward to your photo album on your return.

Have a marvelous, wondrous time.

Did you know that the Parthenon's columns are larger in diameter at the top than at the bottom? The architects didn't want it to look smaller from the ground up? I've always wanted to see that phenomenon in person. I do hope you enjoy everything about your trip.

phff, don't hate your life. You got to go to Europe as a kid! My family went to New Hampshire. I hope you come here someday, though (I'm at the computer in the lobby of Hotel Elena on Mykonos--ironically, free internet here, not at either of the 4 star hotels we stay at in big cities). It's very beautiful, and looks just like a postcard! I also understand why everyone here is pretty fit. The island is just a steep hill, so there are stairs EVERYWHERE. And very few main roads--the best way to get somewhere is to walk through a labyrinth of white buildings with blue or red or green doors and roofs, and cobblestone streets and stairs. Unfortunately, it's colder here than we thought (a lady we met on the ferry said it's been unusually cold this year) so we won't be able to swim in the Aegean, and we've had to wear sweaters and jackets every day. Today is sunny and pleasant--maybe 55, 60 F but there's always a breeze. Better than Vermont, I'm sure. It's going to be painful to leave Spring behind for another six weeks of Winter at home!

Yeah, that's true, I did get to go as a kid. Maybe I'll get a promotion and can pay off my debt and save up to go again sometime within the next 10 years. ;-)

Bummer it's colder there than you expected. Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit anyway, so I'd enjoy sweaters and jackets, but I can see how you guys would be kind of sick of that by now.

And that's hilarious about you getting offered camels for Bella. I have a feeling the dude wasn't joking. The bazaar sounds like it was amazing! Yeah, I'm sure people tried to get you to buy shit (you do look SO American). I wonder how I'd fare. I'm certainly not a blonde, but I'm definitely white.

Are you guys off to Athens next?
