on another note, i took batting practice for the first time in years today. My dad pitched about 35 balls and I knocked several out of the park. It's satisfying to at least know that i can still hit a ball over a fence.
i think in 1993 they went from worst to first. after 13 or 14 straight division titles and only 1 world series, i guess it's just time for them to go from first to worst this season. losing furcal hurt. francoeur turned out to be shit. chipper ain't doing as well as normal. they've lost a lot of good veteran pitchers over the last 3 years. no closer that i'm aware of, not they have many opportunities to use one.
funny story: i used to keep my chewing tobacco in a sandwich baggy for high school baseball, because people got pissed seeing a high school kid take out a bag of Beech Nut and go to town. i looked in my baseball bag yesterday and pulled out a bag with brown, molded shit all in it. my dad asked what it was. he thought it was an old hamburger patty. i didn't even realize what it was until late last night, then i thought ewwwww.
